Favourite: Better Your Life With This Cool App

I'd like to share with you an app that I stumbled upon recently and love. This post isn't sponsored (ha, as if my blog is big enough for that), I just immediately loved the concept of this clever new app. The app I'm talking about is called YOU-app, and it's purpose is to improve your life by giving you very small actions to do every day. What makes the app even better, is that it's backed by no one other than Jamie Oliver.

The app inspires users to make small improvements in their life by giving them daily tasks, called 'micro-actions'. The creators behind YOU-app believe that by making changes bite-size, people are more likely to stick to. Saying 'I'll eat a piece of fruit today' is easier to accomplish than saying 'I'll eat more healthy'. That's why YOU-app has created daily actions that are easy to accomplish, and none of these actions will take up a big chunk of your day. To challenge you to do the actions and to make it more fun, all you have to do is take a photo to add to your log.

How it works

Once you've installed the app (available for free in Google Play and in the App Store) and created an account, you'll see a screen with starting actions so you can start off right away. Each action is a small tasks like 'prepare a snack' and comes with a little introduction. Once you've had your snack you can snap a photo and upload it to the app. Your actions will come up in your 'Me' panel, your profile page with a very similar look to Instagram. You're challenged to do daily actions, but there's no penalty for skipping an activity; you can do as many or as few as you want.

The app is heavily focussed around healthy living as well as creating a happier life, and that of course is due to the collaboration with Jamie Oliver. But if you think about it, it makes sense; being healthy makes up a big part of your wellbeing and it's a pretty easy thing to tackle.

One of the fun things about YOU-app is that it feels like a community. You can easily view other people's accomplished actions and your own actions will get likes from other users too. Jamie Oliver of course has his own profile and shows off how he implements the micro-actions into his life. The YOU-app team also provides some good examples in their profile for if you're lost for inspiration for your own action.

This is a fun app to try out if you're wanting to improve your life but don't know where to start, or if your New Years resolutions keep failing. I've personally already experienced some benefits of it: one of the actions was to 'try a new thing' so I took a different bike route to my internship and came across some unknown streets with some very cool pieces of street art. It's these small things that really do brighten your days. So all I can say is: I like you, app.
