Wilson's Promontory: finally going camping again!

It might already be Tuesday, but I'm still kind of on a buzz from this weekend. It was really good. I have been wanting to go on another camping trip for a while but have struggled to find people together. Then last Thursday I had a look around Couchsurfing and saw a post by two guys going down to Wilson's Promontory. Wilson's Prom has been on the top of my list, so on Friday we got together and on Saturday we were on our way!

I invited another friend and so did they, so the five of us ended up being squished into the car. Camping with four guys... it wasn't as bad as you might think, although everyone had neglected to think of a lot of basics like cutlery and plates for our Saturday nigh barbecue, so that meant eating steaks out of our bare hands like cave people. But the food was delicious, but most of all, the trip was great. On our way to Wilson's Prom we stopped at Inverloch, which has one of the most amazing long beaches.

Then we drove on until we finally arrived at Wilson's Prom. Wilson's might have been one of the most stunning national parks I've ever been to. We climbed to the top of Mount Oberon, which had fantastic views over the beach and surrounding area.

After that we found our camp site. We got up early in the morning and drove back to the national park to do some more walks. We came across a heap of wildlife on our way! Kangaroos, wallabies, a wombat, two emus, and even a fox shot by!

The area was really beautiful as well. We looked out over some beaches and did a walk in the bush. I could definitely come back here and explore for a few more days. It's just so incredible.

Wilson's Promontory National Park is only a few hours drive from Melbourne, and I would definitely recommend it as a great place to get away from the city for a couple days. I for one can't wait to get back!
